July 29 - 7PM - Round Midnight with Maxine Gordon
Legendary jazz tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon was nominated for an Oscar for his starring role as an aging American jazzman fleeing his demons in 1950’s Paris in this atmospheric French-American film. Recreating the Blue Note nightclub, the film features a ‘who’s who’ of jazz greats including Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter Ron Carter and Herbie Hancock, who won the Oscar, BAFTA and Cesar for his evocative score. Maxine Gordon, widow of Dexter Gordon will speak about his life and his role in ‘Round Midnight, followed by a Q&A. Admission $10.

Legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb will headline a tribute concert celebrating Miles Davis’ enduring jazz legacy and the iconic 1959’s quadruple-platinum album ‘Kind of Blue,’ which Rolling Stone Magazine called: “one of the most important, influential and popular albums in jazz.”
Cobb has assembled a group of great jazz musicians for a once-in-a-lifetime evening of Miles Davis music.
